Switching a hot-water circulator on and off by water temperature, this 1/2" aquastat is a clip-on temperature control that clamps onto the outside of a 1/2" copper pipe and senses the pipe's surface temperature to run a recirculation pump only when needed. A bimetal sensing element closes the circuit to turn the circulator ON at about 100°F and opens it to turn the pump OFF at about 120°F, so a hot-water recirculation loop keeps ready hot water on hand without running the pump continuously -- saving energy and pump wear. A stainless steel clip mounts it on the suction or discharge side of the pump, an epoxy-sealed body stands up to the environment, and 18" leads wire into the circulator junction box for 115/120V operation. It is a simple, UL-approved control for temperature-based circulator switching on domestic hot-water recirculation systems.
Key Features:
- Clip-On Pipe Sensor -- A stainless clip clamps onto the outside of a 1/2" copper pipe to sense surface temperature, with no well or tapping needed.
- Switches the Circulator -- Turns a recirculation pump ON at about 100°F and OFF at about 120°F.
- Bimetal Sensing Element -- Responds to pipe temperature to control the pump automatically.
- Saves Energy & Pump Wear -- Runs the circulator only when water temperature calls for it.
- Easy 115/120V Wiring -- Wires into the circulator junction box on 18" leads; UL approved.
Where to Use:
- Hot-water recirculation -- Controlling a circulator on a domestic hot-water recirc loop.
- Boiler & circulator systems -- Temperature-based pump switching on hydronic and DHW systems.
- HVAC service -- Replacing a failed clip-on aquastat on a recirculation pump.
